One thing about home that I don’t miss in college is the weather! While Kansas City just got its first sprinkling of snow, North Carolina has been comfortably warm.

Luckily, it’s been cooling off enough lately for me to bust out my trusty cold-weather sweaters. I have stacks of these babies, so I’m happy to put them to use.

I kept this look simple for the rainy day photoshoot, pairing my sweater with a peek of polka dot and these fabulous tortoise print earrings, which have now made an appearance at least once a week for me.

This sweater is from Madewell’s fall collection, and it’s so comfy! I can’t get enough of their newest sweaters – they seem to be having more fun than past seasons. The newest sweaters feature more color and textures than I usually expect from Madewell, and I’m not complaining.

Perhaps part of the inspiration for more outgoing looks stems from their collaborative blog post with Leandra Medine of Man Repeller. Her blog’s outfit options don’t really play well with our teenaged wallets, but Annabelle and I have always adored Leandra’s style!

My talented friend Mallory Siegenthaler took these amazing pictures. We got lucky and found this fairytale forest backdrop – it was just a clearing behind our dorms!
