OUT OF OFFICE

Happy Thursday, Penny Pressers! Ellie here reporting live from what has become my home office. When we last checked in, I told you that Georgia and I both graduated in May (while Annabelle is still chipping away at that degree). You know that I’m done with school – but haven’t heard much else!

After waving goodbye to my North Carolina campus, I’ve officially kicked off my career with a Very Adult Job at an advertising agency in New York. I’ll make the big move to the Big Apple by the end of the summer, but am working remotely from home for now. Since I’ve been spoiled with in-person classes this school year, getting used to WFH has been an interesting feat. I’ve convinced myself that the sound of our dogs barking in another room is kind of like coffee shop ambience.

The redeeming quality of working from home has been my little office set-up. I’ve taken over our sunroom, where my mom usually paints. Though she’s not a fan of my monopolizing her artistic nest, I’m happy to ignore this fact since it means I get an easel in my Zoom background. My coworkers probably think I’m very creative. 😉

This has always been a favorite room of mine. Stepping through its French doors feels like entering another period of history. The room’s sun-drenched air and scatterings of (fake) plants make it feel like a 19th century greenhouse. I wouldn’t be surprised to find a tiny door in the wall leading to a fairy ad agency (or Caroline Calloway’s West Village apartment). We can be coworkers!

Oh, and if you prefer to take a tour of this room in video form, check out our TikTok.
