Fourth of July: Day to Night

Because who doesn’t love an Independence Day outfit weeks after July 4th? This casual, comfortable (!!) look started out with the perfect romper from J.Crew. I’ve never owned a jumpsuit before, so this was new territory for me. Luckily, it’s a go-with-anything color and classic silhouette. Perfect for shopping downtown or grilling hot dogs on the porch. Or, you know, watching fireworks on July 16th.

Since this jumpsuit is so versatile, I realized it was perfect for a day-to-night look (do people even do that?). Either way, its neutral coloring lends itself to plenty of sartorial directions. I opted for my go-to summer shoes and a jean jacket.

Of course, you need something to lug American flags and fried chicken around in. Because it just wouldn’t be Fourth of July without fried food in your purse. My everyday bag is a Madewell tote, which I love accessorizing with bag charms. Though Madewell offers monogramming, mine is from Bag & Baggage – I liked their font better. 🙂 I use this bag ALL the time and highly recommend it. Plus, both “charms” are from Madewell – they always carry adorable purse accessories and bandanas.

For a more dressed up outfit change, I added statement accessories (including red lipstick, if that counts). Blatantly patriotic. You’re welcome.

I’m absolutely obsessed with these statement raffia earrings from J.Crew. I also think this jumpsuit would look pretty with any other bold jewelry to contrast the simple linen material, especially bright pink colors! These and these would make this outfit pop (these too, I can’t help myself!).
